Robert Wright
Owner/Shop Manager
Life long diesel enthusiast, studied diesel technologies in college, and then started career in the arctic oil fields of Prudhoe Bay as an automotive repair technician. Gained many manufacturer specific certifications from Ford and Dodge, as well as a master certification from the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association. Currently focusing on running the shop, growing the business, providing exceptional service to our customers as well as teaching classes on automatic transmission rebuilding. Hobbies include racing diesel trucks, offroading/overlanding, and spending time with family.
Nicholas Weseman
Diesel Technician
Nick is an ASE certified technician who has been in the automotive industry since 2013. He started his career on the North Slope, and now has been with 1023 Diesel since early 2022. Nick still continues his education by working toward his ASE Master Certification and also attending all trainings he is able to, both on and off the clock. When he used not at the shop, Nick enjoys both practicing and instructing rifle marksmanship.
Joe Grubb
Service Advisor
Hi name’s Joe; born and raised in the Lone Star State and have resided in Alaska since 2011. I enjoy everything Alaska has to offer. Especially, spending time with my wife, Alicia, and my daughter, Kettley. If I had to choose just one thing to be proud of, I’d say it would have to be my ROCKSTAR WIFE! She is currently a CH47 Crew Chief, and she has served this Great Country for 22 years and counting. If I didn’t have this job, one could probably find me doing my second passion. I would be coaching HS Sports, and teaching today’s youth. No better feeling than seeing the young students mature and grow. I remember when I got my driver’s license when I turned 16; All I wanted was a pickup and I remember putting my Texas HS 3A State Championship sticker on the back of my 2014 GMC Sierra Texas Edition pickup. I recently left the corporate dealership after 3.5 years, and I am so excited to be a part of 1023 Diesel, and I can not wait to see what the future holds. Sky is the limit, stay tuned!
Tom "Taz" Porth
Diesel Technician
Tom is the longest serving team member, the senior mechanic in our shop. Tom came from a background of building diesel engines in heavy duty and marine applications. Tom enjoys offroading, shooting, and fishing when he can find the time.
Matthew Eymann
Automotive Technician
Matt is an ASE master certified technician with a background in both import and domestic vehicles. Living in Alaska since 2003. He enjoys exploring, fishing, and anything with an engine. Favorite part of working on vehicles is you learn something new everyday.
Dallas Hughes
Apprentice Technician
I graduated from American automotive and diesel college with an associates degree. I’ve been working on automotive,diesel and marine for 34 years. When I’m not working at either jobs I’m out playin in the mud with trucks and 4 wheelers. I also go fishing and hunting when possible, or vacation In Arizona.
Jacob Berrigan
Lead Technician
Jacob is a seasoned technician in the automotive diesel field. He spent years working in the California aftermarket autmotive industry particiapting in some very unique projects. His previous jobs include a Duramax specialty shop, and a fabricator/welder. Hobbies include; hunting, fishing, and working on diesel trucks. Jake enjoys fabrication projects, anything from traction bars to custom frame fabrication he can handle it.
